Singer-songwriter Donna Creighton was born mid-winter in the Ottawa Valley, the fourth of five kids in a family of Scottish, Belgian, English and French heritage. Her DNA is 100% storyteller and song-maker.
Donna has received multiple London Music Awards and Jack Richardson Music Awards. She is a Canadian Folk Music Award nominee and a Great American Songwriting Competition finalist. After a decade signed to Borealis Records with indie trio Sirens, Donna Creighton launched her solo career.
She has performed alongside Bruce Cockburn, Valdy, Bruce Guthro, Parachute Club, Fred J. Eaglesmith, Don Ross, Philosopher Kings, Lisa Loeb, and Trent Severn. Her performances on the theatre stage included singing and acting roles with Orchestra London, AlvegoRoot Theatre, and Pendas Productions.
Donna spent the better part of a decade developing a one-woman play with music, working with mentors like Governor General’s Award winning playwright, Vern Thiessen, who calls Donna, “talented, smart and funny as hell.” In 2014, Donna premiered Northern Daughter at The Arts Project in London then took her solo show to The Ottawa Fringe Festival and Theatre Row in NYC as part of the United Solo theatre festival.
These days, Donna is retired from playing festivals, concerts, and gigs around town but continues to create. When she isn't teaching, she is usually gardening, tapping her sugar maples, quilting, camping and wilding.
